Black July 83 was a horrific incident but not the first pogrom that saw the massacre of over 3000 innocent men, women and children, on top of the 25,000+ injuries and 150,000 made homeless with an economic cost of 300 million dollars. Many integrated Tamils were forced to leave their successful businesses and careers in pursuit of safety.

This inexcusable act was done by the hands of Sri Lankan (Sinhalese) civilians and military personnel with the authority’s explicit support.

An incident that cemented the Tamil nation’s position. It became more evident to them that they could not be safe as a part of the current state structure in their historic homeland.

The refugees that fled and the civilians who braved Sinhalese chauvinism were resolute that their safety and the preservation of their heritage had to be guaranteed through any means necessary.

This experience reconfirmed the Sinhalese elites inability and illegitimacy to govern the indigenous Eelam Tamil nation.

The continuous genocide perpetrated by the state even after the supposed change at the beginning of the year has reinforced the need for Eelam in another generation of Tamils.

It is especially important now more than ever to remember a time like #BlackJuly83 that scarred the Eelam nation.

கறுப்பு ஜூலை நினைவாக லண்டனில் இளையோர்களால் கவனயீர்ப்பு நிகழ்வு நடாத்தப்பட்டது.

கடந்த காலத்தை புரட்டிப் பார்ப்போமேயானால் 1958 /1977 என இனப்படுகொலைகள் எமக்கெதிராக அரங்கேற்றப் பட்டது. அந்தக் காலகட்டதில் தமிழர்கள் அஹிம்சை வழியில் உரிமைப் போராட்டங்களை நடத்தினார்கள். அவ் இனப்படுகொலைகளின் தொடர்ச்சியின் உச்சகட்டம் 1983அம் ஆண்டு யூலை 23ல் இருந்து 27 வரை திட்டமிட்டு காட்டுமிராண்டி தனமாக நிறைவேற்றப் பட்டது. 24ஆம் திகதி தமிழர்கள் வாழ்வின் இருண்ட காலம் எனப்படும் கறுப்பு யூலையின் தொடக்க நாள். 25ஆம் திகதி வெலிக்கடை சிறையில் பெரும் கொடூரம் நிறைவேற்றப்பட்டது இலங்கை இராணுவமும் சிங்கள இனவெறி காடையருமாக இணைந்து சிறையில் இருந்த தமிழ் அரசியல் கைதிகளை ஈவிரக்கம் இன்றி கொன்று அளித்தனர். இந்த யூலை மாதமானது தமிழ் மக்களின் ஆத்மாவில் என்றும் ஆறாத கடும் வடுவாக இன்றும் பதிவாகி உள்ளது. 2003 ஆம் ஆண்டில் லண்டன் BBC யின் பதிவேட்டில் பிரான்சிஸ் ஹரிசன் கூறுகையில் போரின் தொடக்கத்திற்கு அத்திவாரம் இட்டதே இந்த கறுப்பு ஜூலை தான் என்று கூறியுள்ளார்.

1983 யூலை மாதக் காலபகுதிகளில் ஐக்கியதேசியக் கட்சியே ஆட்சியில் இருந்தது 2009ஆம் ஆண்டு மே 18ஆம் நாள் நடந்தேறிய இனப்படுகொலையின் போது ஐக்கிய மக்கள் சுதந்திர முன்னணியே ஆட்சியில் இருந்தது , எனவே எந்த இனவாத சிங்கள கட்சிகளாக இருந்தாலும் அவர்கள் தமிழ் இனஅழிப்பு என்னும் கோற்ப்பாட்டில் ஒன்றாகவும் நேர்த்தியாகவும் செயல்ப்பட்டு வருகின்றனர்.

இவ் தருணத்தில் பிரித்தானிய தமிழ் இளையோர் அமைப்பினால் லண்டனின் மத்திய பகுதியில் துண்டு பிரசுரங்களும் விழிப்புணர்வு நிகழ்வுகளும் நடாத்தப்பட்டது. வேற்றின மக்கள் பலரது கவனத்தை ஈர்ந்த இவ் விழிப்புணர்வுப் போராட்டத்தில் தமிழர்களுக்கு இடம்பெற்று வரும் இனஅழிப்பினை வருடரீதியில் பட்டியலிட்டு காட்டினார்கள் இளையோர்கள்.
